Image from IMDB: The best movie EVER.

After twelve years of waiting for the best sequel to Avatar, director James Cameron finally released Avatar: The Way of Water, in theaters on December 16, 2022.

If you haven’t seen Avatar yet, let me give you a little backstory. The movie takes place on planet ‘Pandora’ four light years away from Earth where a species called ‘Na’vi’ live. These ‘Na’vi can be described as blue giant aliens with yellowish-golden eyes. Our main character, human being Jake Sully’s consciousness is put into a Na’vi as an avatar and he falls in love with Neytiri (a true Na’vi) and the growth of their relationship is beautiful. Throughout the movie Jake helps the Na’vi take back their land and protect themselves from the humans because the humans want a natural material, the ‘Na’vi have. Now onto the good stuff…

Avatar: The Way of Water has got to be my new favorite movie of all time, maybe even the best movie ever from the graphics and the storyline. In the opening scenes of the movie, we see that Jake and Neytiri have kids, (Jake is also now permanently a Na’vi, two sons named Neteyam and Lo’ak and two daughters, Tuk and Kiri, but Kiri is adopted. Throughout this movie, the Sully family has to move due to the sky people (humans) being back on Pandora. This ends up putting their family in danger Jake and Neytiri make the decision to protect their family and find safety with the Metkayina clan (water Na’vi). They are accepted by this clan and start adapting by learning how to swim and ride their water animals.

During their time with the Metkayina clan, they form close bonds with the leader’s children, especially Lo’ak (my fictional husband.) Personally love the relationship that Lo’ak and Tsireya have. Even though it’s not official, I KNOW it’s going to be. On the other hand, Neteyam didn’t get a love story; instead, he was killed off protecting Lo’ak. Now I am not a crier, BUT I had tears pouring down my face just from a character that only had an hour and three minutes of screen time. That being said, in the next movie I DEMAND more screen time from Lo’ak and they BETTER bring Neteyam back to life.

Overall I rate this movie a 10/10 and recommend it to everyone. I honestly can’t wait to see what else James Cameron has in store for this franchise!
