This movie is old, but if you haven’t it yet, I think it’s time you give it a watch. If you enjoy nostalgia, Disney movies, and music, then this is the movie for you. It has always been a childhood favorite of mine and many others. This movie is filled with great music, has a predictable but good plot, and an amazing story. It was released in 2009 and is categorized as musical/romance; it stars voice actors Anika Nori Rose as Tiana, Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, and Keith David as Dr. Facilier. The film is directed by John Musker and Ron Clements.

In the film, hardworking Tiana has dreams of opening her own restaurant in New Orleans working every chance she can get. But her dreams come to a halt one night when she meets a frog (Prince Naveen) on her windowsill. Prince Naveen is a frog because he is a victim of voodoo with the evil Dr. Facilier. With hopes of breaking the curse and mistaking Tiana for a Princess, Prince Naveen begs Tiana to kiss him. This only to got her involved in his problems, however, and now Tiana and Naveen are met with an adventurous journey throughout Louisiana to break the spell by seeing the voodoo priestess Mama Odie.

I would describe the tone of this movie as thrilling, nostalgic, and a modern-day fairytale. For example, in the movie both Tiana and Naveen get turned into frogs and are chased by Dr. Facilier and his evil spirits. This specific part of the movie really enhances the thrill and anticipation; you don’t know what’s going to happen next to these characters in the moment and are eager to see if they will escape. There are no obvious weaknesses to this film except maybe the fact that the main characters are essentially frogs throughout the whole movie. Despite that, however, I believe the movie is great. The animation is beautifully done, and the acting is expressive and immersive. The southern accents and casting choices are spot on as well. I would recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys Disney and the majestic feel of  lighthearted films.
