The Derby Red Raiders football team started off this year 3-0. The Red Raiders have had an explosive start to their season by forcing a shut out on the St. Paul Falcons in their first week. The Red Raiders came out on top with a win of 41-0. The following week, they beat Crosby 47-28. Finally, they beat Wilby 41-14 in their most recent game.

Since 2021, Derby High School’s football team has been rebuilding itself. The team has shown improvement each year slowly but surely. They started off their 2021 season 0-5, having to forfeit the rest of the season due to of the lack of healthy players. Their 2022 season they were able to return with a team, but went 0-10. Their 2023 season, they ended up going 2-8. Now, their current season has started off undefeated.

Head coach Jeremy Clark talks about major changes that helped impact this program positively. Clark says, “Two huge changes. One, the continuous commitment being shown. On the field and in meetings, the program shows their commitment by their positive enthusiasm. Two, they take the culture of the program and the work they do very seriously.” Clark also states he believes every player is a key player for this team with upperclassmen stepping up for big roles and underclassmen showing a promising future.

Clark says he is happy with his results as a program. He believes there is still work to be done, is excited to keep coaching, to watch the team develop, and see this program expand and improve.
