On Nov. 5, 2024, people across the U.S. voted in an election that changed everything. With big issues like education, climate change, and jobs on their minds, voters decided to shake up our world. Everything could be very different in just a few weeks
Citizens, young and old, turned out in record numbers for the recent election, many of them voting for the first time. The results were surprising, with an unexpected win. This election caused much talk and debate, saying some votes weren’t counted because of their signature. It showed clear and deep differences among voters, which led to important talks about the country’s direction. The question is: how everything will go as Trump leads the U.S. once again. This political decision can affect many lives, from student loans to climate change, and most importantly people’s rights. By voting, people show that they care about their future.
The election shows the need for policies that address concerns for the country. Rashiem Mcneil, ‘27, says, “I feel like Kamala showed great strength though she wasn’t the winner. Overall, I think she won, not being our president, but in dignity, pride, and respect.” A lot of people were astonished by Donald Trump’s win, even with all the love Kamala had. Khalil Francis ‘25 said, “I was shocked that Trump had won due to all the confidence and support Kamala had.” The thoughts and opinions were different about the future leader for this election. A lot of people from both parties were rooting for Trump and Kamala, but in the end, it was Trump who came out on top.
