On Nov. 27, 2024, Derby High School hosted a Thanksgiving pep rally for students and teachers. This pep rally was a fun event where students had the opportunity to play in a volleyball game. This was something that the school did before sending students off for Thanksgiving break.
Students in grades 9-12 had the opportunity to sign up to play beforehand. It was completely optional, but about 30 students participated in this game. There were three sets of the game that every student was able to participate at least once. The first round was underclassmen vs upperclassmen. In this round, the underclassmen team did a fantastic job by taking the victory. The second round was underclassmen vs. teachers & staff. Lastly, the third round was upperclassmen vs. teachers/staff.
The school pep rally was an absolute blast, filled with lots of energy and excitement. The energy was being spread around the crowd of students. During this event, everyone had a positive experience. Every student in each section would hype up their friends who were playing in the volleyball game. Each student who got the opportunity to play was all pumped up.
Everyone in the gym was entertained by the game. The purpose of this pep rally was for everyone to have a small celebration before Thanksgiving break. It was also a half day for all students and teachers, so that made it even more exciting. The school usually hosts these pep rallies a few times per year, because students show that they enjoy it.
