Starting in November, DHS hosted clubs on every Thursday that the school did not have a delayed start or half day of school. There are a variety of clubs offered this year, such as Spanish Club, Weightlifting Club, Yoga Club, Basketball Club, Chess Club, Movie Club, Book Club and many more. In November, there was a Google Form that was sent out to the whole school and it listed all the club choices. Students had a first, second, and third choice of which clubs they wanted to participate in. Every student was given three options because if too many people were in one club, they would have to give students their second or even third option of what club they wished to be in. If a student decided not to submit a Google Form, they were put in a random club. Everyone in the school has to participate and be present in their club when it is club day.
Xavier Pizzaro ‘26, who is in Basketball Club, states, “I love my club and we usually do 4 verses 4 or 5 verses 5 half court and we usually keep score.” He was very happy with his choice and enjoys his club very much. He also says that if he had to be in another club he would be interested in the Speed Training Club. Cesar Rueda ‘26 was also interviewed. Rueda says, “I actually didn’t choose my club. I didn’t fill out a form before the due date and I was put in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). I was confused at what the club was, but found out it is very influential because it has to do with finance.” Cesar also says, “I would be a lot more interested in other clubs, especially Basketball Club.” Even though he doesn’t particularly like his club and didn’t have a choice of choosing it, he felt it was very beneficial to him in the end.
Recently, the first semester of the school year ended and there have been no club changes yet, but the student body will see if there are going to be club changes allowed. There are many interesting options offered on club day at DHS. If clubs do change this year, try something new!
