Would you do challenges being sent to you to save a loved one’s life? In this new thriller “Drop,” the main character Violet takes on many challenges from an unsaved phone number to save her son’s life. Will she do the challenges and save her son’s life? Or will she ignore them and put him in danger?

“Drop,” directed by Christopher Landon, was released on April 11, 2025. The movie includes actors Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, and Gabrielle Ryan as part of the main cast and many more. In the movie, Violet Gates (played by Megann Fahy) goes on a date with Henry Cambell (played by Brandon Sklenar) but when she goes to check her phone, an unsaved phone number texts her crazy things insinuating that not only is she  being watched by someone in the same restaurant as her, but her son as well. She must complete an insane amount of tasks to save her son’s life, such as poisoning her date and stealing from him. “Drop” is exactly 1 hour and 35 minutes, and the genre is thriller. This movie is available in theaters for a limited time.

In this thriller, Meghann does not tend to the tasks at first because she thought somebody was playing a joke on her until she checked the security cameras at her house, however, she sees  a person dressed in all black who may or may not harm her son. Halfway into the movie she slowly wonders who the person is and then seeks to find them. Eventually she finds the person behind the texts. This person does not feel guilty and tries to play mind games with her, but she falls for them to keep her son alive.

Throughout the movie my anxiety was extremely high because it kept me on my toes. A part that gave me anxiety was when she wasn’t listening to the random number and did whatever she wanted. The whole time I was thinking to myself, “Her son is going to die.”

Although I personally did not find this movie interesting, I would say it is a good watch if you are into action and thriller movies. I personally did not like this movie because movies in that genre do not interest me. I expected more from it, and thought it would be more action packed, or have scenes that were more engaging. If you enjoy a slower, more thought provoking thriller, then “Drop” is the movie for you.
