On Sept. 28 during the Dallas cowboys and Green Bay Packers game, Bad Bunny announced that he would be performing the 2026 Super Bowl. There were a lot of conversations on if Bad Bunny should do the halftime show or not, some even taking his nationality into question. In reality, Bad Bunny should do the Super Bowl halftime show, no doubt!

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Martinez, is a Grammy-winning Puerto Rican artist known for being the voice of his people and having a cultural impact. The Hispanic community is thrilled with Bad Bunny being chosen because of how public he is about the discrimination against the Hispanic community, which happens to be the main focus of his new album, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.”

On the other hand, some American citizens are disappointed with the choices they have made.  Our president, Donald Trump, spoke to Newsmax’s Greg Kelly. He said, “Never heard of Bad Bunny. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it — it’s, like, crazy.” I completely disagree with this statement and thought it was very inappropriate to say. Donald Trump is only saying Bad Bunny is unknown because he is not a typical American, English-speaking writer, and Bad Bunny has been very vocal about how he does not approve of how Trump has been running the office. Bad Bunny is one of the most popular artists in the world, even earning the spot of Top Global Artist of 2025 on Spotify.

Bad Bunny doing the halftime show is more than just entertainment; it has the opportunity to get American fans’ attention and make a worldwide statement with millions watching. He says on The Bobby Bones show, “This is for my people, my culture, and our history.” This will be the best opportunity to speak up about the issues that immigrants are facing in the United States.

Bad Bunny will transform the halftime stage into more than just a musical event; it will become a platform for cultural expression and social awareness. Building on this impactful message, his trademark energy and creative vision are expected to turn the show into one of the most iconic Super Bowl performances in history.
