Since 1959, the Grammy’s have kicked off as one of the world’s best award shows. It has been a tradition since 2023, for the famous Grammy Awards to fall on the first Sunday of February in Los Angeles, California. In addition, it is common to have the ceremony one week before the NFL Superbowl. This year it fell on Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. EST and 5 p.m PST.
Aside from watching musical artists win awards in their respective categories, a lot of fans tune in to the show just to evaluate the fashion aspect and how celebrities choose to interpret the theme of that year.
As of 2025, there are many different varieties of styles and categories in fashion, ranging from modest to streetwear, grudge fashion, Y2K fashion and even unique styles such as “Gyaru.” As different celebrities get invited to the Grammys, they meet with personal stylists, friends & assistants to discuss their outfits and inspiration for the show as well as afterparties.

For the 2026 Grammy Award show, they had a theme of theatrical self expression with a “bad taste” aesthetic which prioritizes being memorable rather than conventional beauty.
During the Grammy red carpet segment, we saw many, intricate designer-made pieces, put together like artwork on all the celebrities in attendance. In attendance at the Grammy’s this year, we had celebrities such as: Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, SZA, Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, Tate McRae, Jelly Roll, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter to name a few. All the artists listed had amazing outfits made by iconic fashion designers and put together by their highly advanced fashion stylists.
One of the more memorable outfits at the Grammys was Chappell Roan’s outfit.

This was a very daring, sheer burgundy gown customized by Miguel Castro Freitas of Mugler. It was a dress inspired by the brand’s 1998 runway. It had features of a long train and was held up by structural nipple piercings. She paired this gown with a choker, dangling earrings and chain-strap sandals all while leaving areas of her back and chest exposed to show her tattoos.

Another memorable outfit of the Grammys came from Sabrina Carpenter. This piece of artwork was made by Alessandro Michele of the fashion line Valentino. It was a custom made white dress with a drop-waist bodice with delicate flower embroidery, pearls and sequins, paired with a tiered, ruffle tulle skirt and a capelet. She completed her look with additional pieces of jewelry by the jewel brand Chopard. Her dress specifically took 3 months to create and was referred to as a “naked” dress and created a roar on social media and had fans and blogs in awe of her style.
Many popular events such as the Grammys, the Oscars and the VMA’s give opportunities for celebrities to showcase their fashion sense and explore self expression. In terms of the press and social media, a lot of fans and websites love to cover the fashion of the night, whether compliments or controversy. Fashion in and of itself has limitless possibilities and has no distinct way of being executed. Fashion is a multi cultural topic or obsession, and can range from profession to a simple hobby.
Overall, fashion is an amazing way to express yourself in terms of personality, hobbies and aesthetic. There are over 458,000 apparel manufacturing businesses globally as of 2025 and this number continues to rise. These businesses will remain an outlet for the quiet people, the unique people, the happy people, the sad people and everyone in between. Fashion will always unite communities. I loved what I saw at the Grammys and can’t wait for more red carpet events in the near future!
