On Feb. 8, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks claimed the Super Bowl trophy. It was supposed to be the night the New England Patriots proved themselves and reminded everyone of their legacy. But unfortunately, after a long game of hope, the victory slipped through their fingers.

From the start of the game, the Seahawks made it very clear that they worked hard all season and came to win. They had the energy and were not letting the Patriots end the game with a win. As a Patriots fan, it was hard to watch New England struggle and not perform well in the most important game of the season.

The Patriots had heart, but the plays on defense and offense weren’t clicking. They had moments where their offense did great things, like Mack Hollins with a 35-yard touchdown and Rhamondre Stevenson with a 7-yard touchdown, but it only gave false hope. There were defensive stands that reminded us of the Patriots’ legacy, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. The Patriots came off a good season, and for them to make it this far was great, especially with many new players on the team. This was a lesson for the Patriots, and this loss only gives them more fuel for next season.

Aiden Villacres ’28 states, “I had a lot of faith for the Pats in the beginning, and as a lifelong fan, it was hard to see them struggle and lose in the Super Bowl.”

This team has lost before, but they know how to rebuild and get back up to win. Seattle may have thrived on Feb. 8, but the Patriots will be back and ready to thrive like no other team. Falling short isn’t the end of the story for them; it’s the beginning.
