North West, the eldest daughter of media personality Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West, has been in the spotlight since she was a child. North is 12 years old and was born on June 12, 2013. She has three siblings: Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. When North was younger, she had some memorable outfits, but her style has changed drastically since then. North is commonly known on the internet as a fashion icon, an upcoming musician, and for her TikTok page, which is monitored by her mother, Kim. As for North’s fashion and style, she is known for her distinct edge and luxury fashion sense, often appearing in headlines for her unique, curated outfits.
In terms of North’s entertainment and talent, she recorded her debut song on her father’s album, “Talking / Once Again” (2024), which reached the Billboard Hot 100. She also performed “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” at the Hollywood Bowl in 2024. Kim and Kanye have always let North unapologetically be herself. “It’s just really fun to see someone be so creative, and also know herself so much,” Kardashian shared about North. In an interview in 2024, North stated, “I like streetwear and the 90s,” and when her mom asked about her favorite style right now, she added, “Tyler the Creator, my dad, and me!” She also noted that her favorite artists are Tyler the Creator, Yuno Miles, and Nicki Minaj. When it comes to North’s style and fashion choices, many of them stem from her favoritism toward the styles of her favorite musicians, as well as her dad’s iconic style.
North has had many different styles, from when she was a toddler to now. She has been bold and gothic, a streetwear princess, and a minimalist at fashion weeks and other pop-up events she has attended.
North’s outfit upon arriving at the event consisted of a black corset, a denim mini skirt, black platform boots, and green-blue ombre pigtails, accessorized with a black heart-shaped bag and jewelry. As for Kim, she stood out in a sheer black slip-layered dress with peek-a-boo lace, paired with open-toed sandals and a cross necklace. Both Kim and North receive heavy compliments on their styles but also face criticism. “Love that Northie has her own style,” one fan wrote on social media. Another fan defended the look, saying, “If you find anything inappropriate about this outfit, you need to be in therapy!” Although there were many compliments, there was also backlash, with critics arguing that Kim should do a better job at preserving “her daughter’s innocence.”
Much of the media has sparked debates over North’s style, but that has never stopped her. She is now a teenage trendsetter, currently shifting her style toward a more “tomboy” aesthetic, often selecting her own clothes, which include baggy, comfortable silhouettes, Y2K fashion, and oversized vintage tees with colorful hair.
Recently, North has paired her “rockstar” and “edgy” outfits with a customized chain that was gifted to her. It is a 106-carat “iced out” diamond necklace featuring a cartoon skull pendant with blue sapphire eyes and spiked details, crafted by jeweler Alex Moss. The design was inspired by a 2018 piece for rapper Playboi Carti, with the necklace featuring 71.49 carats for the pendant and 35.38 carats for the chain. This has become North’s signature necklace, often paired with her outfits alongside an additional leather spiked bracelet.
Overall, North has always unapologetically expressed herself through her style and voiced her opinions. Her fashion choices have consistently been unique to her tastes, and it is clear that her style will continue to develop and evolve as she matures, grows, and explores her identity.
