Derby High School’s prom this year was a huge success, marked by a perfect evening. It was held on May 8, 2026, at Grassy Hill Country Club, located at 441 Clark Lane in Orange, Connecticut. The prom location, with its masquerade theme, provided a breathtaking, mysterious atmosphere filled with unforgettable memories.
Spenser Butterworth, a history teacher and Student Council Advisor at Derby High School, meticulously oversaw all the prom-related tasks, ensuring everything was in place the day before the big event. He maintained control over the entire event throughout all the chaos. Brooklyn Fernandez ‘26 said, “Mr. Butterworth looked very focused and had everything organized under control.”
Everyone was dressed elegantly, taking pictures and dancing with friends. The music was excellent, keeping everyone on the dance floor all night, from the slow-dance songs to the faster-paced beats and group dances. As a popular song came on, the entire room erupted in singing, dancing and joyous celebration. Ashlyn Kish ‘27 said, “I enjoyed the night dancing and spending time with my friends.”
The night was filled with excitement and positive energy as sparkling lights lit up the room. Friends laughed, danced, and made unforgettable memories together. Great music, good food, and the joy of being surrounded by amazing people made prom a truly special and memorable night.
