Many people will say the best pizza in Connecticut is Roseland’s in Derby, Pepe’s, Sally’s, Modern, or one of the many other pizza restaurants in New Haven. However, if you’re ever in Milford, you should give Silver Sands Pizza a try. It is located at 1000 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford, Connecticut, and is open 7 days a week, Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Silver Sands Pizza is a popular beach pizza spot, known for its New Haven-style brick oven, which many locals consider a top choice.
I’ve heard positive reviews about Silver Sands Pizza and was eager to try it to see if the taste lives up to its reputation. My family ordered a thick-crust plain cheese pizza, a thick- crust pizza with bacon and some garlic knots. After arriving home with the food, it was still hot, which is great considering it was a 20-minute ride. The thick crust on both pizzas was perfectly cooked, offering a satisfying bite. The plain cheese pizza featured a rich, tomato sauce that was complemented by a generous layer of melted mozzarella cheese. The bacon pizza was equally delicious, with crispy, savory bacon that added a delightful salty counterpoint to the cheese. The garlic knots were warm, soft and coated in garlic butter and parmesan cheese, giving them a flavorful experience. Brianna Fernandez ‘28 says, “Silver Sands Pizza is one of my favorite places to eat because of its great food and relaxed atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating.”
Overall, my experience ordering from Silver Sands Pizza was thoroughly enjoyable, confirming that this local hidden gem truly lives up to its reputation. While the allure of New Haven’s renowned pizzerias is undeniable, Silver Sands offers a distinct and fantastic flavor profile that is an absolute must-try for anyone in the Milford area seeking an exceptional pizza experience.
